Prophesying after the Event?

Daniel 8-11

Some Bible scholars think that the detailed events in Daniel 8–11 could not possibly have been predicted in advance. Some who refuse to acknowledge the Bible as the Word of God explain this with something called ex eventu prophecy, a term meaning "prophecy after the event." In other words, because they do not believe in a God who can foresee the future, they think someone wrote in Daniel's name years after these events occurred. But if there is a God who carried along Scripture's authors by His Holy Spirit (2 Pet. 2:21), then the Book of Daniel is not just a human account of history but an accurate foretelling of God's long-term plan. Therefore, Daniel is a testimony to both the accuracy of prophecy and to God's detailed knowledge of the future.
