His Kingdom Come

Daniel 7:13, 14

The kingdom of Jesus Christ superseded everything that happened on the bottom half of the screen, the kingdoms of humanity. In every way, it was better. In every way, it was greater.

  • Unlimited. In Daniel's description of the kingdom of Christ, we find that it is unlimited. The kingdoms of this world are throttled. Jesus Christ will be given dominion, all dominion without limitation. He will be the absolute monarch of the whole world • Unique. We also find that the kingdom of Jesus Christ is unique, while the kingdoms of this world are typical. The Bible says there was given to Him dominion and glory. That is the difference in the kingdom of Jesus Christ. It's not a kingdom for its own sake. It is a kingdom for the glory of God. It's a kingdom filled with deity, a glorious kingdom. We have never seen anything like what God has in store when He sets up His kingdom.
  • Unified. His kingdom is unified, while the kingdoms of this world are torn. The chaos and disruption and upheaval in the governments we see in Daniel didn't stop with the Roman Empire. It is going on today. In our world, human government is described by chaos; but when Christ comes back, He will rule a kingdom.
  • Universal. The kingdom of Jesus Christ is universal. The kingdoms of this world are territorial. The Bible says that His kingdom is over all people, and all nations, and all languages; and all of them are going to serve Him. Even the greatest kingdoms of Babylon and Rome and Greece, which were considered by historians to be worldwide kingdoms, did not cover all of the territory. But when Jesus comes to set up His kingdom, it is going to stretch from east to west to north to south. It will cover every little corner of the globe, and there will be no place where you can avoid the kingdom of God. Christ rules universally throughout the whole world.
  • Unending. The kingdom of our Lord is unending, while the kingdoms of this world are temporary. The Scripture says His dominion is everlasting, and it shall not pass away. Every king who came to authority thought he would reign forever, or his descendants after him. Yet we have discovered that even the great Babylon, which seemed impregnable with its walls that were 387 feet high and 87 feet thick, one day fell. There was not a kingdom that ever survived like the kingdom of Jesus Christ will—unending, forever and forever.
  • Unconquerable. Finally, the kingdom of Jesus Christ is unconquerable, while the kingdoms of this world are triumphed over by each other. The Scripture says His kingdom shall not be destroyed. Who would destroy it? Who rivals King Jesus? Who can come and make a threat against the kingdom of our Lord and our God?

There isn't anyone. It will never be destroyed.
What seems to be greatness in the kingdom of humans is nothing when compared with the greatness of the kingdom of Jesus Christ the God-Man. When we see what God has in store for those who love Him, it helps us to have perspective on what is going on in our world.

For Christians, there is a glad excitement for what will come when we have already experienced in some small way the kingdom of Christ in our hearts. Jesus took the fear out of what will happen at the judgment by what He did on the cross. He made it possible for everyone to anticipate the coming of Christ—everyone who puts Him where He belongs, on the throne of their hearts.
